Nigeria’s freelance marketplace connecting companies and individuals

Globally, online freelance marketplaces like oDesk.com and Freelancer.com are well known for connecting companies with skilled freelancers in various fields ranging from programming to accounting. According to oDesk, the overall market for online work is expected to grow to an estimated $1 billion by year end 2012.
The freelance fever has arrived in Nigeria with the launch of Prolance.com.ng.
Prolance is a Nigerian online marketplace connecting companies with skilled professional freelancers.
Like many other marketplaces, submitting a project on Prolance is free. Once you post a project, you’ll receive competing proposals from qualified professional service providers and freelancers. You can afterwards select your choice of freelancer or service provider in Nigeria.
With an unemployment rate of more than 25%, Nigeria’s economy needs services like Prolance to provide streams of income to people either looking for work or in need of additional sources of income.

Wema Bank Launches the "Sharp Sule" online game in partnership with Maliyo Games
Earlier in the year we featured Maliyo Games here on CP-Africa, a Nigerian gaming company co-founded by a Nigerian in the Diaspora, Hugo Obi. Since then, Maliyo Games has grown, expanding its list of game titles and foraying into the enterprise gaming development space with its recent partnership with Wema Bank.

Maliyo Games has recently launched the first advergame built by a Nigeria gaming company for a local brand. Advergames are games used to communicate brand products to consumers using digital media.Called “Sharp Sule” the game available to be played on its Facebook fan page (http://bit.ly/sharpsule), and a player stands a chance of winning up to N100,000.

The interactive game follows the story of a regular guy, Sharp Sule that works hard to earn a living by riding his motorbike on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria. He aspires to run a bigger transportation business to earn more money and upgrade his status.

Maliyo Games will be featured on CNN’s Marketplace Africa as Vladimir Duthiers reports on how young entrepreneurs in Nigeria are taking advantage of the continent’s growing tech market — and breaking down the barriers.
The company is also listed as one of the 40 Start-ups at the DEMO-Africa, holding in Nairobi, Kenya from October 24-26, 2012.

samsung makes 30 millis galaxy S3 sales

Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Android Jelly Bean
Samsung's Galaxy S3 handset has surpassed the 30 million sales mark.

The company said that its flagship smartphone has surpassed the sales milestone some five months after arriving on the market.

"Meeting this sales milestone in five months sets another record for Samsung, and we are extremely proud yet motivated to provide our customers with products that they love," said Samsung IT and Mobile communications president JK Shin.
"On behalf of Samsung Mobile, I appreciate the millions of customers around the world that have chosen the Samsung Galaxy S3."

Since its release earlier this year, the Galaxy S3 has become a favourite amongst consumers and a lightning rod for controversy. While the handset has set sales record for Samsung and generated record profits, the handset has also been a target of patent infringement claims from rival Apple.
The Galaxy line itself has been at the centre of an ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung which has at various points threatened to halt imports of devices around the globe.
The 30 million sales mark also comes just two months after Samsung announced that the handset had topped 20 million sales, suggesting that that the smartphone is still fresh in the minds of consumers despite increased competition from the iPhone 5 and Windows Phone 8 handsets.

kanye wast flying illuminati

First question would be, do you believe in the existence of the ancient secret society known as the ‘Illuminati?’ because I don’t. Second question, what is Kanye West trying to say with the images on his sweat pants, or is it just a coincidence that he is wearing pants that bare the symbols of the Illuminati?

Do you think some Nigerian stars have joined too?

Nigerian villagers sue Shell in landmark pollution case

Chief Fidelis Oguru (R), a representative of both fishermen and farmers from Nigeria, sits in a local court in The Hague October 11, 2012. REUTERS-Michael Kooren

Four Nigerian villagers took Royal Dutch Shell to court on Thursday in a landmark pollution case that campaigners said could open the door to more compensation claims against international companies.
The fishermen and farmers, together with the Friends of the Earth campaign group, accuse the oil major of polluting land and waterways around their homes in the Niger Delta region of Africa's top energy producer.
Shell has denied responsibility, saying the leaks were caused by sabotage.
The villagers launched their claim in a civil court in The Hague, where Shell has its joint global headquarters.
It was the first time a Dutch-registered company had been sued in a Dutch court for offences allegedly carried out by a foreign subsidiary.

German teen sells mum's jewels for brothel visit

  • this is so funny,
A 14-year-old German teenager took his mother's jewellery worth between 2,000 and 3,000 euros ($2,500-$3,800) and pawned it for 300 euros ($380) to finance two trips to a brothel for himself and a friend, German police said on Wednesday.
Karlsruhe police spokesman Ralf Minet said the teenager's mother is pressing charges of theft against her son, who admitted he pawned the jewellery to pay for the prostitutes.
"We don't know what the mother's motives are for pressing charges," Minet said. "It's possible she wants to teach him a lesson or it's possible that she felt she had lost control."
Police are also investigating the brothel that the boys said they visited. Prostitution in Germany is legal but the clients must be aged 18 or over. The operator of the brothel told police they had sent the boys away because they were under age.

    sex is btter than love

saw this article on a blog and i felt i should share it with you and see if you agree with it or not....

Why Love is More Important than Sex   by Schalk Lubbe

Many men tend to think that sex = love. And Hollywood does its best to spread the word that this is in fact the case. Nothing could be further from the truth, however. Sex is NOT equal to love.

Love is the Foundation of Marriage

Is sex then not part of a loving relationship? It absolutely is.But sex is the result of love, and is not love in and of itself.

Furthermore, while sex can be used as a method to show your wife that you love her, it is by no stretch of the imagination the only - or even the most important - way to demonstrate your love.

Love, on the other hand, is the foundation of marriage. It is possible for a marriage without sex to survive, but a marriage without love will falter and die.
