DryBath: Student Invents Product That Cleans Without Water Or Soap
Students are not normally renowned for their rigorous adherence to a hygiene regime.
But one South African undergraduate may have revolutionised washing after inventing the first bath that requires neither water or soap.
Ludwick Marishane, 22, took inspiration from a friend too lazy to take a shower and after a few months of research on the Internet came up with a product called DryBath.
He has already won global recognition – winning the 2011 Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award – for an invention which came after a ‘eureka’ moment that takes the water out of bathing.
The product, which is made of a clear gel applied to skin does the work of water and soap, is hyped as having wide applications in Africa and other parts of the developing world where basic hygiene is lacking and hundreds of millions of people do not have regular access to water.
The product differs from the anti-bacterial hand washes by eliminating the heavy alcohol smell. It creates an odourless, biodegradable cleansing film with moisturisers.

Computer security ( part 2)
ok lets continue from were we stopped..computer security( part 1)
....The hacker could try to just guess your password, attempting to log in again and again, hoping to get lucky. They might know the username and just guess the password, or more likely they are guessing both. There are 86400 seconds in a day, and suppose your bank permits 1 login attempt per second. The bad guy could just go through the list of 100000 common passwords ("password", "password123", "janexyz", ...) trying to get lucky. This works, since they only need to guess correctly for a few accounts, and they can do the attack in bulk.
Clearly, the bank or whatever should detect thousands of bad logins and slow down or freeze the account. This can cause problems for the legitimate user however, so it's a balance. One simple policy is that the Bank can process login attempts at a slowish rate, such one every second to prevent the bad guys from trying 100 billion different passwords.
Dictionary Attack Example
Here's a real "log file" from my codingbat.com server where it routinely records what happens each day. What you see here is the attacker is trying guess both the username and password on the account. It happens that the username for each attempt is printed in the log file but the password is not. No doubt they are trying common passwords, such as "secret" "password12" etc. It's funny to me that you can see that their list of usernames to try is sort of alphabetical order, and they are just running through it in the most obvious way. So what you need to understand is .. this sort of attack is clicking along, every second of every day aimed at basically all the servers on the internet. They just need to succeed with a few accounts here and there, even though they fail 99.99% of the time. This is why you should not have a password which is close to a dictionary word or someone's name, or is a password people often choose. The good news is .. with just 4 random letters added to your password .. suddenly this dictionary attack is not going to work -- there's not enough seconds in the day.Wednesday, 6 June 2012

The University of Lagos was today renamed The Moshood Abiola University of Lagos by President Goodluck Jonathan, the president made the announcement early this morning during The Democracy Day Nationwide address...what a beautiful democracy gift to lagosians!. However since the announcement, neither the students of the school or social media networks have rested or had peace as protests have began and rains of insults have poured down on the president"s decision.
Could this be a part of scheme or plan of President Goodluck Jonathan for his second term by trying to please the west? well only time will tell, pictures of rioting students after the cut.

Facebook vs Google+
Its no longer news that there is a silent battle going on between face book and the search engine giant's new social network..Google +
The radical impact Google is making within the social space has reminded me a bit of the early days with Microsoft vs. Apple. Today it’s Facebook vs Google Plus. Much like Microsoft, Facebook captured the bulk of the market early on and rapidly grew on a worldwide basis. And even though Facebook, much like Microsoft has been somewhat discombobulated, they both fulfilled an untapped need. Microsoft redefined productivity in the business world. Facebook revolutionized the way we communicate with each other. Both achieved what needed to be done on a functional level.
Apple on the other hand offered equal functionality yet with simplicity and clean sleek design. I admit I am biased as I have always been an Apple person, but as I have played around with Google Plus, I am feeling the same differentiating factors. Google+ is simple and smoother in design. Good friend, Ayesha Mathews-Wadhwa, recently shared a comment referring to the Aspen Ideas Festival:
Design is changing the way we talk to each other.
So true! And I believe Facebook is about to find that out. Facebook is functional and meets a need. But by incorporating thoughtful and logical design, Google+ takes the social experience to a different level.
So who wins? The consumer. I doubt Facebook is going away, but much like Microsoft, they are no longer the only ones playing and will have to step it up. Good competition means choices and ultimately better products for consumers. Google has been trying to get into the social space for quite awhile with little success. But with Google+, I think they have finally created not only something to compete with Facebook (and yes, Twitter,) but something that might even cause a switch.
For example, take a look at Chris Brogan’s (social media extraordinaire) new profile picture on Facebook. I was a bit amused, but I’m guessing Mark Zuckerberg did not feel the same.

Deliver us from Apapa traffic!!
first of all let me give kudos to the Lagos state governor Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN , on the tremendous work his administration is doing especially on roads construction and all, that said lets go into the main issue on ground today,
Getting to work in apapa most times is a night mare and most times discouraging, as a journey that will usually take you 30 minutes will take you over 2 hours...why? largely because of the trailers and trucks packed along the apapa express way, thereby creating a one lane road on a road that usually takes three lanes.
This issue has to be addressed soon and fast,as it gets worse every day,as this is crippling the economy of Lagos slowly as less human work hours are put on the job because we spend most of our energy on the road.."IN TRAFFIC "
we urge those responsible for road and traffic wordiness to address this issue
yanz says: eko o ni baja oh!

The Rap General...SPOTTIE!
Emeka Frank Dimude a.k.a. Spottie who often times refers to himself as ‘the rap general’ is a renowned rap artiste/performer in the world of entertainment
The Lagos born came 2nd in the first ever rhythm unplugged talent show organized by the silverbird group some years ago. He is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in lyrical arts. He has got a strong advantage which is the ability to “free style” i.e. rap without having written any lines anywhere – spontaneous creation of words that make sense.
The graduate of Chemical Engineering of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri has soared through the different dispensations of the music industry, showing great strength and potential. Every studio he has stepped his foot into, he has left a long lasting impression. He also has that super star image and charisma that can take him to the highest levels possible...
His latest single ' she say' is causing major buzz on the air waves and its a must listen to track peeps. what made me love the song was its instrumentation and beats...kudos to your beat maker ( Chubb clef !!)
listen in, follow the link....http://bit.ly/HTdzf9
